The legacy of Bikanervala can be traced back to more than 100 years in the city of Bikaner, in Rajasthan. A city was well known for its Halwais (traditional sweetmakers) who closely guarded their knowledge of exquisite sweetmeats from the outsiders. Sometime during 1950s, a family of sweet makers migrated to Delhi, and set up a small shop in Chandni Chowk. Little did they know that their fortunes would take a dramatic turn as their signature sweets gained popularity amongst the Delhiites and would give them the name ‘Bikanervala’.

Apart from the traditional fare of sweets, Delhiites were also the first to taste namkeens, which again, was a huge success. This prompted Bikanervala, to become versatile and it translated into an extensive menu that included traditional sweets, bengali sweets, Indian fast food, chat, juices, snacks and south Indian food. Simultaneously, they branched out by opening outlets in India and abroad, never losing focus on hygiene and affordability which they have followed till date.
